ABOUT ME

Who Am I?

Hi, I’m Chris, Devon born and bred minus the webbed feet… I moved to Norfolk in the year 2000 from the lovely island of Feautreventura, where I quickly settled and have four amazing offspring.

I’m the second to youngest out of a tribe of four siblings. I have been lucky enough to call a few beautiful places home. at aged 18 I moved to the Caribbean island of Barbados where I spent a rather hazy but memorable year before moving again to Fuerteventura.

I have been a professional photographer for over 17 years. Over 70 years of photography experience has been handed down through three generations of Bottrell photographers. My grandfather James Bottrell became famous in 1967 when the Supertanker Torrey Canyon had run aground on rocks between Land’s End and the Scilly Isles. So James Bottrell decided to charter his own helicopter and hung by a rope from the deck which made the national papers with his breath-taking images of the tanker and the devastation it caused in true Bottrell stylee.

My pop,s AKA grumps and teacher of the photographic arts,  is a professional ecologist with over 30 years of experience. From an early age, his passion for natural history and photography shone through. Howard is currently a photographer and published writer specialising in wildlife photography……cheers Dad

I have always been fairly artistic even though I can’t draw even a simple stick man for the love of money. But this didn’t stop me from learning 3D animation and 3D compositing along with graphic design.

Back in the day I got my first digital camera(s) a canon 10D and a Canon XL2 video camera and started to learn that you can do some pretty cool things with them.

I do genuinely love photography and film making. I don’t do it just for the dollars, I find every wedding to be unique and as exciting as my first ever wedding I shot back in Devon in 1999.

I enjoy many things in life like good food and drink, and find myself spending more time fishing and enjoying the waterways of the Norfolk Broads. But my true passion is for travel and going to places I really shouldn’t go. I have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with Chernobyl in Ukraine and visit the exclusion zone 4 times a year to teach photography alongside my UK photography and lighting workshops.

Random Shizzle……I love heavy metal, Ska, Gabber, and 80’s music. I have an African Serval cross as a pet cat (who is so annoying) and a Dog called Bella (who is even more annoying than the cat) but I still love the pair of idiots all the same.
