FAQ — Wedding Photography Questions Answered

A guide to the most common questions couples ask when planning their wedding photography — from how I work on the day to delivery times, equipment, coverage, and practical details.

If you have a question that isn’t covered here, please get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.

About My Style & Approach

I shoot predominantly documentary style with a creative touch. That means I focus on capturing real moments as they happen — the interactions, the emotions, the laughter and tears — all with minimal interruption. If there’s a moment that’s worth creating beautifully, I’ll suggest it, but I never force poses or staged moments. My aim is to tell the story of your day as it naturally unfolds.

Yes — city weddings and country weddings feel different, and I adapt my approach accordingly. In venues with lots of natural light or open spaces, I’ll lean into that atmosphere. In tighter city venues or indoor locations, I focus on mood, lighting, and moments between people.

Not at all. It’s actually one of the most common things couples tell me before their wedding! I work in a calm and unobtrusive way, blending into the day so you forget I’m there. Most couples don’t even notice I’m shooting until they see the photos — that’s the goal.

Booking & Coverage

Once you’ve decided I’m the right fit, we arrange a consultation (in person or online), confirm the details, and you secure your date with a simple contract and a 20% deposit. Payment plans can be discussed if needed.

I focus on full-day coverage because I tell stories — and you can’t tell a story by only covering half of the day. Coverage typically includes bridal and groom prep, ceremony, portraits, groups, and celebrations. I’m flexible for shorter elopements or weddings with non-traditional schedules — let’s talk about what you need.

Technical Details & Equipment

I shoot with dual Canon R series bodies and a selection of premium glass — reliable, consistent and perfect for all wedding conditions. For video, I use a Canon C70 Cinema camera to capture beautiful 4K footage with a cinematic feel.

Absolutely. Having reliable backups is essential on a wedding day — you never know when a battery dies or a lens fogs up. I carry multiple cameras, lenses, and flashes to ensure you’re always covered.

Weather, Insurance & Backup

Rain, wind, or overcast light doesn’t mean bad photos — it just changes the mood! I’ve shot weddings in every kind of weather, and some of my favourite images came from unexpected conditions. With umbrellas, covered spaces, and creative thinking, we always find beautiful ways to make images sing.

Yes — I carry full professional and public liability insurance. Many venues require this, and I’m always happy to supply certificates if requested.

Delivery & Photos

It depends on the day, but generally you can expect around 100 edited images per hour of coverage. On a full day this usually results in 800-1500 unique images — every beautifully edited, individually selected, and ready for you to enjoy.

I deliver your completed photography collection within about one week — because you shouldn’t have to wait months to relive your day. I keep my bookings manageable so I can prioritise quality editing and timely delivery.

I retain the copyright to the images, but I grant you a full print release, so you can download, share, and print your photos exactly how you want them. I only ask that you don’t modify the images.

Practical & Miscellaneous

Absolutely. I’m always happy to meet in person or online to talk through your plans, show more work, and answer questions — it’s important we feel like the right fit.

Yes! I shoot across Norfolk, Norwich, the UK and internationally — from small local venues to destination weddings abroad. Travel and accommodation outside the local area are normally added at cost. see my destination weddings.

I also offer cinematic wedding videography — perfect for reliving the sights and sounds of your day. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll tailor a package to you. see my Norfolk wedding videography page
